Jane Doe, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Trafficking, South Dakota 2023

⏱ 2 min read

A Pine Ridge woman is going down for 19 years after running a major fentanyl and methamphetamine operation in Rapid City and the Pine Ridge Reservation. Shauntel Shangreaux, 32, was sentenced on April 6, 2026, for her role in distributing multiple ounces of fentanyl and multiple pounds of methamphetamine throughout Rapid City and the Reservation in 2023.

Shangreaux was a key lieutenant for Juan Sertuche, the leader of a massive methamphetamine distribution conspiracy that provided hundreds of pounds of meth and tens of thousands of fentanyl pills to dealers across South Dakota. Sertuche was convicted at trial in January 2026.

The investigation, led by the FBI, DCI, Rapid City Police, Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, and BIA, dismantled Sertuche’s organization and brought Shangreaux to justice.

Shangreaux will serve 19 years and 2 months in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
