A brutal attack on a woman in the Pine Ridge Reservation turned into a 70-month prison sentence for Jessie Sutton, 37.
The assault, which left the victim with brain injuries requiring emergency surgery, occurred in November 2024.
Sutton and her sister, Joann, allegedly attacked the woman about her body and head.
U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler handed down the sentence on April 6, 2026.
The case was investigated by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth.
