Defendant Charged with Illegal Re-Entry
Raul Cabrera-Perdomo, a 46-year-old Honduran national, has been hit with a serious crime in Louisiana.
According to federal authorities, Cabrera-Perdomo re-entered the United States after being previously deported on May 15, 2009.
The indictment, filed on September 30, 2021, charges Cabrera-Perdomo with one count of illegal re-entry of a removed alien in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).
If convicted, Cabrera-Perdomo faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, a maximum fine of $250,000, a maximum term of supervised release of one year, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee.
U.S. Attorney Duane Evans emphasized that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
