A 56-year-old Honduran national, Pedro Marquez Benetiz, is going back to Honduras – at least for now. He slipped back into the US, violating a deportation order from January 2020.
Benetiz was busted in June 2025 by law enforcement on a charge of simple assault. ICE caught wind of his presence after running his fingerprints through an automated system.
Benetiz’s sneaky return to the US was part of a bigger problem, say federal authorities. As part of Operation Take Back America, the Department of Justice is cracking down on illegal immigration and the cartels that fuel it.
Benetiz copped a plea deal and got off with time served. He won’t be back on US soil anytime soon.
