Felon in Possession of a Firearm Lands Hammond Man in Hot Water
Robert Barker, 28, of Calumet City, Illinois, has pleaded guilty to the felony offense of Felon in Possession of a Firearm in Hammond, Indiana. This charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Sentencing has been set for September 9, 2014. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Chang-Adiga is prosecuting the case.
According to the indictment, Barker possessed a firearm, which is a felony offense. If convicted, Barker faces up to 10 years in prison. The exact sentence will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
