Methamphetamine Charges Land Johnson County Man in Federal Prison
A Johnson County, Illinois man is now behind bars after being sentenced to federal prison on methamphetamine charges.
Robert D. Brewer, 49, of Vienna, Illinois, received a 78-month prison sentence, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and a $300 fine. Brewer had previously pleaded guilty to six counts in a federal indictment.
The indictment charged Brewer with possession of pseudoephedrine knowing it would be used to manufacture a controlled substance – methamphetamine on four separate dates: April 29, 2013, April 20, 2013, April 10, 2013, and February 20, 2013. He was also charged with attempted possession of pseudoephedrine knowing it would be used to manufacture a controlled substance – methamphetamine on two additional dates: April 18, 2013, and April 16, 2013.
The investigation into Brewer’s activities was conducted by the Illinois State Police and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood, who is working tirelessly to keep our communities safe from those who would seek to bring harm through the illicit use of controlled substances.
Brewer’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences that await those who engage in methamphetamine production and distribution.
