Wheeling man admits to child pornography charge, faces up to 20 years in prison and fine of up to $250,000.
In a shocking revelation, Robert Eugene Wilson, of Wheeling, West Virginia, has admitted to a child pornography charge, according to United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld.
The 51-year-old Wilson pleaded guilty today to one count of ‘Solicitation of Child Pornography.’
According to the indictment, Wilson asked a minor for sexually explicit material which contained a visual depiction of the minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The crime took place in Ohio County and elsewhere in October 2019.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government, while the FBI and the West Virginia State Police investigated.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James P. Mazzone presided over the case.
Wilson faces at least five years and up to 20 years of incarceration, as well as a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
As the investigation unfolds, the community remains vigilant, seeking justice for the victims and a safe environment for future generations.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the severity of child pornography and the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
The public is encouraged to report any information regarding child-related crimes to the authorities.
