Shootings and Fentanyl Possession Land St. Louis Man in Serious Trouble
Robert Eutz III, 43, has been indicted on five felony charges stemming from a shooting in St. Louis and allegations of fentanyl possession. The charges include two counts of possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The shooting allegedly took place on March 30, 2023, in the 3500 block of Lafayette Avenue. According to a complaint filed by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police, officers were called to the scene and were told that someone in an older model Chrysler shot a victim multiple times. The police were also given a partial license plate number, which matched a car stopped a short distance away. Robert Eutz III was arrested and identified as the shooter by a witness. In addition to the firearm, police found ammunition, spent cartridges, and a safe in the car.
A motion seeking to have Eutz held in jail until trial notes that he has a pending drug charge in St. Louis Circuit Court related to a February 2022 arrest. In that incident, Eutz allegedly possessed a large quantity of fentanyl.
The charges against Eutz carry severe penalties. The felon in possession charges carry a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison, while the fentanyl charge carries a 20-year maximum. The possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime charge carries a mandatory minimum term of at least five years in prison, consecutive to the other charges.
While Eutz has been indicted, he remains innocent until proven guilty. The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski is prosecuting the case.
Eutz’s indictment comes at a time when fentanyl possession and trafficking continue to plague communities across the nation. The severity of the charges against Eutz serves as a reminder of the consequences of these crimes.
The investigation into Eutz and the potential consequences of his actions serve as a reminder of the dangers of fentanyl and the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
