The streets of the Hill District Section in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, just got a little safer. Robert Fields Jr., also known as Squid, has been sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin distribution conspiracy.
According to the court, Fields conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 100 grams of heroin from November 2015 to January 2016. The Wavy Boyz gang, which operates out of the Hill District Section of the City of Pittsburgh, was also implicated in the conspiracy.
Fields, 24, of Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer. The court was informed that Fields was a member of the Wavy Boyz gang, which operates out of the Hill District Section of the City of Pittsburgh.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Amy L. Johnston on behalf of the government. United States Attorney Scott W. Brady commended the federally administered Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Robert Fields Jr.
The OCDETF task force is headed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is comprised of members drawn from the FBI Greater Pittsburgh Safe Street Task Force, including the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Wilkinsburg Police Department, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, and the Allegheny County Police Department. Substantial assistance was provided by FBI San Juan, Puerto Rico (St. Thomas Resident Agency, U.S. Virgin Islands) and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
Fields will also serve six years of supervised release following his prison sentence. The OCDETF program supplies critical federal funding and coordination that allows federal and state agencies to work together to successfully identify, investigate, and prosecute major interstate and international drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises.
The case against Fields is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies working together to combat the scourge of heroin distribution in our communities. As we continue to work towards a safer and more just society, we must remain vigilant in our pursuit of those who seek to harm our citizens.
