Sedalia Man Gets 10 Years for Meth Conspiracy
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Sedalia, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for his role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
Shane Scott Longie, 39, of Sedalia, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough to 10 years in federal prison without parole.
On Sept. 1, 2015, Longie pleaded guilty to participating in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and to possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute in Pettis County, Mo., from August 2012 to March 2013.
A confidential informant provided information that Longie was selling multiple ounces of methamphetamine in Sedalia each week. An undercover law enforcement officer purchased a total of 56 grams of methamphetamine from Longie on two occasions in November 2012 and March 2013.
This case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael S. Oliver. It was investigated by the Sedalia, Mo., Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Longie’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing mark another victory in the fight against methamphetamine distribution in Pettis County.
The case serves as a reminder that those involved in the sale and distribution of illicit substances will be held accountable for their actions.
