Robert Fleming, Escape from Custody, Iowa 2025

Robert Fleming, a 61-year-old man from Chicago, Illinois, has been sentenced to two months in federal prison for escaping from the Gerald R. Hinzman Center in Iowa.

Fleming was serving a federal prison sentence after being convicted of possession and aid abet the possession with intent to distribute cocaine base within 1,000 feet of a protected location after a prior felony drug conviction.

According to court documents, Fleming escaped from the Gerald R. Hinzman Center in July 2025 while confined to the facility.

Fleming pleaded guilty to the escape charge and was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams in Cedar Rapids.
