A former member of the Boston Latin Kings Chapter, Robert Lara, has pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy charges in a Boston federal court.

According to court documents, Lara, 29, also known as ‘King Rizz,’ was a member of the Devon Street Kings, or D5K, Chapter of the Latin Kings. The gang, which operates nationwide, is a violent criminal enterprise that adheres to a national manifesto and employs an internal judiciary to maintain its hierarchy.

The Latin Kings use drug distribution to generate revenue and engage in violence against witnesses and rival gangs to further its influence and protect its turf. Lara admitted to attending numerous meetings of the gang, contributing to its joint account known as the ‘fundo,’ and participating in a violent assault of another member at a hotel in the Boston area.

Lara is the 54th defendant to plead guilty in the case, which was brought by a federal grand jury in December 2019. The indictment alleged racketeering conspiracy, drug conspiracy, and firearms charges against 62 leaders, members, and associates of the Latin Kings.

Lara faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for January 25, 2022.

The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The remaining defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
