Ralph Minni, a 54-year-old former postal manager from Rochester, NY, has pleaded guilty to a string of serious charges, including possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.
The charges against Minni, which carry a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years, also include a hefty fine of $5,000,000.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean C. Eldridge, who is handling the case, Minni used his position as the Greece Post Office station manager to steal parcels containing controlled substances, such as marijuana, from the mail stream and redistribute them to others.
On multiple occasions between May 2018 and May 2, 2022, Minni would take parcels containing controlled substances into his private office, remove the contents, and then return the empty packages back into the mail stream.
On three separate occasions in March and April 2022, Minni distributed quantities of cocaine to a coworker, who would then snort the cocaine off Minni’s office desk in his presence.
On May 2, 2022, investigators executed a search warrant at Minni’s residence, where they recovered approximately 700 grams of cocaine, over 19,000 rounds of ammunition, and 40 firearms.
The investigation into Minni’s activities was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, among others.
Sentencing for Minni is scheduled for August 13, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.
