Local Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Distributing Methamphetamine

ERIE, Pa. – A former resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court to five years in jail on his conviction of violating federal drug laws, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today.

United States District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter imposed the sentence on Rodney Domanick Evans, 21, for his role in distributing 65 grams of methamphetamine in Erie, Pennsylvania. According to information presented to the court, on or about December 19, 2019, Evans distributed the illicit substance.

The investigation that led to Evans’ conviction was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Erie County Detective Bureau, Erie Police Department, and the Millcreek Police Department. Acting United States Attorney Kaufman commended the agencies for their tireless efforts in bringing Evans to justice.

Assistant United States Attorney Paul S. Sellers prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. The prosecution is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which targets high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten communities throughout the United States.

Under the OCDETF approach, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies work together to identify, disrupt, and dismantle these criminal networks. The successful prosecution of Evans is a testament to the effectiveness of this multi-agency approach.

Evans’ conviction and sentencing serve as a warning to those involved in the distribution of illicit substances. The Erie community can rest assured that law enforcement agencies will continue to work tirelessly to keep their streets safe.
