Mexican National Sentenced to 46 Months’ Imprisonment for Methamphetamine Charge

Omaha, NE – In a significant blow to the drug trade, Rodrigo Marrufo-Pineda, a 34-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to 46 months’ imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Nebraska.

According to court documents, Marrufo-Pineda was a local courier who distributed methamphetamine supplied by a Mexico-based source of supply in the Omaha area. The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, revealed that Marrufo-Pineda was involved in the distribution of pound quantities of methamphetamine in the Omaha area.

On January 25, 2024, FBI special agents utilized a cooperating witness who purchased approximately one pound of methamphetamine from Marrufo-Pineda at an Omaha location. At the time of Marrufo-Pineda’s arrest, he gave a post-arrest statement admitting to distributing pound quantities of methamphetamine in the Omaha area.

Marrufo-Pineda’s sentencing was handed down by Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. on February 14, 2025. As a non-U.S. citizen, Marrufo-Pineda will be subject to deportation to Mexico after completing his term of imprisonment.

The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are commended for their tireless work in bringing Marrufo-Pineda to justice.
