WASHINGTON – In a stunning blow to the fentanyl trade, Ronte Ricardo Greene, 29, of the District of Columbia, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 108 months in federal prison for his role in a deadly fentanyl trafficking conspiracy.
The investigation, which spanned from Southern California to the nation’s capital, revealed that Greene, also known as “Cardiddy,” distributed hundreds of thousands of lethal fentanyl-laced pills across the United States. His sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, marking a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking.
Greene pleaded guilty on Feb. 27, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams of fentanyl. The court also ordered him to serve five years of supervised release after his prison term. His downfall began when he was introduced to a Los Angeles-based drug trafficker and became involved in the distribution network.
Greene’s arrest on Nov. 15, 2023, yielded about 100 fentanyl-laced pills, underscoring the gravity of his criminal activities. The investigation is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) effort that dismantled a vast drug trafficking network.
Joining in the sentencing announcement were key figures from the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and Metropolitan Police Department. This case was a result of a joint investigation by various federal agencies, including the DEA Washington Division, USPIS Washington Division, ATF, FBI, and Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Kinskey, Solomon Eppel, and Iris McCranie prosecuted the case, ensuring justice for the victims of this ruthless drug trade. This sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by fentanyl trafficking and the ongoing efforts to combat it.
