Anthony Delmaro, Tax Evasion, Connecticut 2023

Woodbridge, CT – In a stunning revelation, Anthony Delmaro, 48, of Woodbridge, Connecticut, has pleaded guilty to tax evasion, according to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan and IRS Criminal Investigation’s Thomas Demeo. Delmaro operated a roofing business, ‘Kings Roofing,’ earning an estimated $20.9 million in receipts from 2012 to 2022.

Delmaro did not file income or payroll tax returns, paid workers in cash, and went to great lengths to conceal his income from the IRS. He used check cashers, provided false Forms 1099, and deposited business funds into his personal bank account.

From 2012 to 2022, Kings Roofing earned approximately $20.9 million in customer receipts, but Delmaro paid his workers in cash, never filed income or payroll tax returns for himself or the business, and took several steps to conceal income and operating expenses from the IRS.

The scheme involved cashing checks at various businesses and using UPS mailboxes to evade detection. For 2022 alone, Delmaro cashed $3,710,628 in checks and received $439,700 into his personal account. He also caused false Forms 1099 worth $1,908,095 to be filed.

In addition, the investigation revealed that from 2019 to April 2025, Delmaro collected over $500,000 in Husky Health benefits. Delmaro has agreed to pay $1,129,669 to the IRS and $578,259 to Connecticut Medicaid. Sentencing is set for December 17.

Delmaro faces significant penalties for his actions, including a possible prison sentence. The investigation was conducted by the IRS Criminal Investigation Division and the Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General, with prosecution handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher W. Schmeisser.
