MOBILE, AL – The grimy streets of Mobile witnessed a hard-hitting sentence as Jamar Lee Webb, 42, was locked up for more than eleven years after being caught with a firearm as a convicted felon.
Court documents reveal that Webb was nabbed by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on February 24, 2023, during a traffic stop. The feds were keeping a close eye on Webb through a court-authorized CCTV recording device in a truck linked to a major drug-trafficking organization (DTO) when they spotted him with a firearm on his lap.
Webb’s past as a convicted felon, including for distribution of drugs and domestic violence, made it illegal for him to possess the gun. The investigation led to the arrest of Webb and a drug dealer who was also a DTO member. Deputies recovered two loaded pistols, drugs, and more during the stop.
United States District Judge Terry F. Moorer handed down a 137-month prison sentence and ordered three years of supervised release after Webb’s release. Webb’s fate is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at eliminating cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello announced the sentence, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin Roller and George May. Homeland Security Investigations and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation.
