Rose Ellen Points, Methamphetamine Distribution, Nebraska 2021

A Council Bluffs woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for distributing methamphetamine in the Omaha metro area.

Rose Ellen Points, 36, was sentenced on May 11, 2021, by Senior United States District Judge Joseph F. Bataillon for distribution of 50 grams or more of pure methamphetamine.

Points, who received a 120-month sentence, will also serve a five-year term of supervised release after her time in prison.

The investigation into Points’ methamphetamine distribution operation began in mid-2018, when the Drug Enforcement Administration task force started looking into the activities of David Short in the Omaha, Nebraska, metro area.

The investigation, which included a court-ordered Title III interception of phone calls and text messages, identified Points as someone receiving methamphetamine from Short.

On August 29, 2019, Points sold 73 grams of actual methamphetamine to a police source, as assisted by the Omaha Police Department.

This effort is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which targets the highest-level criminal organizations threatening the United States.

Other conspirators are still pending trial, with David Short’s trial set for July 12, 2021, in Omaha, Nebraska.

The case was investigated by the DEA, OPD, Nebraska State Patrol, IRS’s Criminal Investigations, and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office.
