A Perrysburg man has been hit with serious charges after a federal investigation turned up evidence of methamphetamine possession and use of a communications facility to facilitate a drug felony.
Sage George, 31, was indicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and one count of Use of a Communications Facility to Facilitate a Drug Felony.
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service working in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
If convicted, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation.
In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Alissa M. Sterling and Frank H. Spryszak.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The investigation and subsequent indictment mark a significant blow to those involved in the illicit drug trade in the Toledo area.
