Sacaton Man Sentenced to Over 15 Years for Shooting Death
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Sage Jones, 30, of Sacaton, Arizona, was sentenced August 15, 2022, by United States District Judge Dominic W. Lanza to 188 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
Jones, a recognized member of the Gila River Indian Community, pleaded guilty on May 13, 2022, to Second Degree Murder. On March 24, 2021, Jones shot the victim multiple times, resulting in the victim’s death.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Gila River Police Department conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Raynette Logan handled the prosecution.
Jones will serve 188 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The Gila River Indian Community has a long history of violence, with numerous reported crimes in the area.
