A 33-year-old Salvadoran national, Angel Vidal Reyes Guzman, was busted for sneaking back into the US after being deported and convicted of a felony.
Reyes Guzman, a repeat offender, had previously been removed from the country in 2013 after being convicted of a charge of moral turpitude in Virginia.
He made the fateful mistake of returning to the US, which landed him a 2-month stint in the slammer after being found guilty of illegal reentry.
US Attorney Brian D. Miller stated that Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative, aimed to tackle the issue of illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and TCOs, and protect communities from violent crime.
Reyes Guzman’s case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelley K. McGraw handling the prosecution.
