Brandon Cory Boshears, Child Pornography Possession, Texas 2014

LUBBOCK, Texas – A San Angelo man has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Brandon Cory Boshears, 30, was handed the sentence by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings, following his guilty plea in February 2014 to one count of possession of child pornography.

According to documents filed in the case, Boshears admitted to downloading and viewing numerous images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct while using a file sharing program on his computer.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the government in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and identify and rescue victims.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with assistance from the San Angelo Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy prosecuted the case, which resulted in Boshears’ guilty plea and subsequent sentencing.
