San Francisco’s Henry Alvarado, a notorious drug dealer, was today meted out justice by Senior U.S. District Judge William H. Orrick. The judge sentenced the 34-year-old to 60 months in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl within the Tenderloin district of San Francisco while on supervised release.
Alvarado, a citizen of Honduras, was charged with criminal complaint on April 17, 2023, and indicted by a federal grand jury on May 2, 2023. On March 10, 2025, Alvarado pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
According to the plea agreement, between multiple transactions in March 2023, Alvarado sold a staggering 173 grams of methamphetamine and 110 grams of fentanyl. The dealer’s actions placed him on federal supervised release from a prior federal drug trafficking conviction.
In addition to his prison sentence, Alvarado was also sentenced to a concurrent 12-month term for violating the terms of his supervised release. Judge Orrick also imposed a four-year period of supervised release following his prison term and ordered a $200 fine.
The defendant has been in federal custody since April 19, 2023. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Emily R. Dahlke and Michael G. Lagrama with the support of Marina Ponomarchuk and Helen Yee. It was the result of a joint investigation by the DEA and the San Francisco Police Department.
United States Attorney Craig H. Missakian and DEA Special Agent in Charge Bob P. Beris announced the sentencing, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the importance of maintaining public safety through decisive legal action.
