A Boston man was sentenced to prison for his involvement in a fentanyl and cocaine trafficking conspiracy.

On May 19, 2021, Sandro Pereira Cabral, 25, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl and cocaine.

In October 2017, Cabral delivered approximately 4.95 grams of fentanyl to an undercover officer in Boston. Cabral was charged as part of an investigation into a drug trafficking organization distributing large quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, and other controlled substances in the greater Boston area.

Acting United States Attorney Nathaniel R. Mendell, Brian D. Boyle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Boston Field Division, James Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Boston Police Acting Commissioner Gregory Long made the announcement today.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Corey Steinberg and John Mulcahy of Mendell’s Criminal Division prosecuted the case.

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The remaining defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

BOSTON – Sandro Pereira Cabral, 25, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV to one year in prison and three years of supervised release.

This case is part of an ongoing effort by the Department to combat the opioid crisis and disrupt the supply of illicit narcotics in the Commonwealth.
