ALBUQUERQUE – A Santa Fe woman is facing federal charges after allegedly supplying the lethal dose that killed another individual. Aimee Lamar, 34, is accused of distributing a deadly combination of fentanyl and methamphetamine, culminating in a fatal overdose.
According to court documents unsealed today, on October 6, 2023, Lamar allegedly provided the dangerous mixture to a person who subsequently died. The specifics of their relationship, if any, remain sealed within the court filings, but authorities are treating this as a direct link between the drug distribution and the tragic loss of life.
Lamar is now charged with one count of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and one count of distribution of methamphetamine resulting in death. These are serious federal felonies carrying substantial penalties. If convicted on both counts, she could face a minimum of 20 years in prison, and potentially life behind bars.
“This case underscores the deadly consequences of fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking,” stated U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison in a press release. “We are committed to holding accountable those who profit from poisoning our communities.” Philip Russell, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the Bureau’s dedication to dismantling drug networks.
The investigation was spearheaded by the Santa Fe Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office, with crucial support from the Santa Fe Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Brittany DuChaussee and Louis Mattei will be prosecuting the case, meticulously building their case for trial. Lamar remains on conditions of release pending a trial date, which has not yet been set.
An indictment, it’s crucial to remember, is not a declaration of guilt. Aimee Lamar, like all defendants in the American justice system, is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it unfolds, providing updates on the proceedings and any further developments.
