Santos Santiago, Narcotics Conspiracy, New York 2024

A Jamestown man is going to prison for his role in a narcotics conspiracy. Santos Santiago, 49, was sentenced to 132 months in prison after being convicted of narcotics conspiracy.

The sentencing took place in Buffalo, New York, on an undisclosed date. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. handed down the sentence.

Santiago was involved in a narcotics conspiracy that involved the distribution of fentanyl. Investigators conducted several controlled purchases of fentanyl from Santiago, including one in November 2023 and another in March 2024.

On November 8, 2023, a search warrant was executed at the Van Buren Street residence of Santiago and his wife Anabell. During the search, law enforcement seized cash, a quantity of fentanyl, pills, and drug paraphernalia. Santiago attempted to destroy his fentanyl, causing a large amount of the drug to go airborne. Two officers inhaled the cloud, with one experiencing physical effects requiring medical attention.

Another search warrant was conducted in April 2024 at a residence on Whitley Avenue in Jamestown. During that search, investigators recovered fentanyl, crack cocaine, two loaded 9mm pistols, ammunition, $30,369.00 in cash, drug paraphernalia, a switchblade knife, and oxycodone tablets. One of the pistols was reported stolen in June of 2023.

Charges remain pending against co-defendant Anabell Santiago.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jamestown Police Department. The investigation was led by Frank Tarentino, New York Field Division, and Timothy Jackson, Chief of the Jamestown Police Department.

Santiago will begin serving his 132-month prison sentence immediately. This case serves as a reminder of the dangers of narcotics trafficking and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat it.
