Julian One Star, a 38-year-old Saint Francis, South Dakota man, has been sentenced to 8 months in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender. One Star was required to register after being convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact in Rosebud Sioux Tribal Court in October 2022. However, after updating his registration in October 2025, he left his residence in December 2025 without notifying authorities, leading to his arrest in February 2026.
The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Zachrison. One Star pleaded guilty on May 7, 2026, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte on August 10, 2026. In addition to his prison term, One Star was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and will serve 5 years of supervised release.
The sentencing is part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative, which aims to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
