Dale David Glick, a 31-year-old Bismarck man, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender. Glick, who was previously convicted of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, was required to register as a sex offender but failed to do so after his release from federal prison on January 24, 2025. He initially registered his aunt’s address as his primary residence, despite living with his girlfriend in McLaughlin, South Dakota, and only updated his registration after his arrest in June 2025.
Glick’s failure to register as a sex offender was a clear violation of federal law and his supervised release. The US Marshals Service investigated the case, and Assistant US Attorney Carl Thunem prosecuted it. Glick pleaded guilty on September 29, 2025, and was sentenced on May 18, 2026, by US District Judge Charles B. Kornmann.
The sentence includes five years of supervised release and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Glick’s sentence will run consecutively to a nine-month sentence for a supervised release revocation.
The US Attorney’s Office and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Unit are committed to protecting children from sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children.
