Clarence Brandon Walton, Failure to Register as Sex Offender, Florida 2024

⏱ 2 min read

A Destin sex offender tried to keep his dirty secret under wraps for too long. Clarence Brandon Walton, 54, dropped off a kid at an elementary school without batting an eye, but an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy had other plans.

The cop discovered Walton was a convicted sex offender who’d stopped registering as required by law back in December 2023. It took a Georgia arrest warrant to get Walton’s attention, but he still failed to comply.

Walton’s SORNA registration requirements date back to his 2006 guilty plea – an offense that put him on the sex offender registry. When a deputy caught up with him in August 2024, Walton hadn’t registered in Florida, as he was supposed to.

Walton’s got some ‘splainin’ to do. He’ll face the music after a joint investigation by the U.S. Marshal’s Service, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
