A high-stakes meth trade went up in smoke for Sioux Falls woman Amanda Thompson, 36, as she was sentenced to five years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute the deadly dope.
Thompson’s scheme involved multiple trips to Omaha to score the stuff, which she then redistributed in Sioux Falls. She also funneled drug cash to Mexico via money wire transfers at the behest of a co-conspirator.
Thompson’s involvement in the conspiracy spanned over four pounds of methamphetamine, a staggering amount that could have flooded the streets with addiction and violence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Hodges handled the prosecution, which was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Thompson was hauled away to federal custody after being sentenced on May 11, 2026.
