Saul Castillo-Crespo, Unlawful Re-Entry, Washington 2026

⏱ 2 min read

Saul Castillo-Crespo, a 28-year-old Mexican national and convicted sex offender, committed a heinous crime in the nation’s capital. On May 7, 2017, he encountered an extremely intoxicated woman near Lafayette Square in downtown Washington, DC, and instead of helping her get home, he took her to his apartment building and sexually assaulted her. The attack was captured on surveillance cameras. Castillo-Crespo was later convicted and sentenced to five years in prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault.

After serving his sentence, Castillo-Crespo was deported to Mexico in January 2023. However, he illegally re-entered the United States in March 2025, failing to register as a sex offender as required by law. His re-entry did not go unnoticed, and he was eventually caught by law enforcement.

On January 8, 2026, Castillo-Crespo pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful re-entry of a previously deported alien before US District Court Judge Timothy J. Kelly. He was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and will be deported again after serving his sentence.

The case highlights the importance of enforcing immigration laws and monitoring sex offenders to prevent them from committing further crimes. Castillo-Crespo’s actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of the community.
