London Teeter, Hobbs Act Robbery, District of Columbia 2023

⏱ 2 min read

London Teeter, a 22-year-old former store manager at a Walgreens in DC’s Chinatown, was the mastermind behind a series of seven inside-job robberies that took place between July 2023 and February 2024. Teeter, who was employed at the store, used her knowledge of the store’s cash transfers to devise a scheme with three co-conspirators to carry out the armed robberies. The robberies occurred on July 18, 2023, August 2, 2023, September 2, 2023, November 10, 2023, December 4, 2023, January 9, 2024, and February 11, 2024.

During each robbery, a masked gunman would enter the store, force an employee into the manager’s office, and rob the employees before fleeing through a rear exit. Teeter and her co-conspirators took turns pretending to be the victim manager on duty, knowing that the robberies would be captured on internal surveillance. Teeter was present in the manager’s office and pretended to be the victim of a robbery during the July 18, 2023, and January 9, 2024, robberies.

Teeter pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act robbery) on February 13, 2025. She was sentenced to 32 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. The sentence was significantly lighter than the 100 months requested by federal prosecutors.

The case was prosecuted by the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, with US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stating that Teeter’s sentence does little to protect the citizens of the District. The sentencing guidelines had called for 87-108 months, but the judge opted for a lighter sentence.
