Hartford Man Sentenced for Fentanyl Trafficking and Gun Possession.

A Hartford man was sentenced to 34 months of imprisonment for fentanyl distribution and gun possession offenses.

Shannon Davis, 29, was sentenced on March 23, 2022, by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport. He has been detained since his arrest on November 25, 2019, for possession of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and two loaded handguns from his Franklin Avenue residence.

Possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon are the charges Davis pleaded guilty to. Davis has a history of state felony convictions for firearm possession and assault offenses.

According to federal law, a person previously convicted of a felony offense cannot possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Hartford Police Department’s Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Margaret M. Donovan and Brian P. Leaming prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aiming to reduce violent crime. PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime, focusing enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partnering with locally based prevention and reentry programs.
