Shannon Ivory, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Iowa 2025

A string of convictions has left one Sioux City man facing the harsh realities of the federal prison system.

Shannon Ivory, 43, of Sioux City, Iowa, was hit with a 125-month sentence in federal prison following a guilty plea to four counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.

The arrest of Ivory came on March 20, 2023, after federal agents tracked him down as a fugitive on State of Iowa charges. At the time of his capture, authorities discovered a stash of illicit drugs that was meant for distribution.

The evidence presented in court showed Ivory was in possession of over 26 grams of pure methamphetamine, more than 15 grams of crack cocaine, over 4 grams of powder cocaine, and 25 morphine pills.

Ivory admitted to owning the drugs and his plan to distribute them to other individuals. The case brought before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand, who handed down the prison sentence.

Ivory’s sentence included a five-year term of supervised release following his imprisonment. However, there is no parole available in the federal system. He is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde. The investigation involved a collaborative effort between the United States Marshal’s Service, the Sioux City, Iowa Police Department, and the Tri-State Drug Task Force based in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Tri-State Drug Task Force consists of law enforcement personnel from a variety of organizations, including the Drug Enforcement Administration; Sioux City, Iowa, Police Department; Homeland Security Investigations; Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office; South Sioux City, Nebraska, Police Department; Nebraska State Patrol; Iowa National Guard; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; United States Marshals Service; South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation; and the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office.
