Defendant Pleads Guilty To Destruction Of Mail

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – SHAWN JUSTIN FISCHER, a 36-year-old man from Durant, Oklahoma, has admitted to destroying a package entrusted to him while working at the United States Postal Service.

Fischer pleaded guilty to DELAY OR DESTRUCTION OF MAIL BY POSTAL EMPLOYEE, a federal offense punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The charges stem from an investigation by the United States Postal Services’ Office of Inspector General, which alleged that on April 20, 2017, Fischer willfully opened a package while performing his duties as a postal employee.
