GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: Sheldon’s Henry Araica-Gonzalez faces a 12-year federal prison sentence after being caught distributing child pornography. The 22-year-old was sentenced by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City on April 18, 2024.

The harrowing case began when a minor disclosed a sexual relationship with Araica-Gonzalez, leading to an investigation that unearthed shocking details. Araica-Gonzalez admitted knowing the victim was a minor and filming their encounters on both his and her phones, later sending videos to the victim himself.

In a stunning turn of events, Araica-Gonzalez pleaded guilty to Distribution of Child Pornography on December 5, 2023. The sentence includes 144 months’ imprisonment, $1,100 in fines and assessments, and a subsequent 5-year term of supervised release.

United States Marshal’s custody will hold Araica-Gonzalez until transportation to federal prison can be arranged. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice initiative combating child sexual exploitation. Investigated by the FBI, Bluff Police Department, and Sheldon Police Department, it was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kraig R. Hamit.
