On July 20, 2026, three Shreveport-area men were sentenced to federal prison for their roles in drug trafficking and firearms offenses. Cameron Boatwin, 24, Malachi Bailey, 48, and Dezjuante Lockett, 36, all pleaded guilty to the charges, which stemmed from separate incidents in Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana. The cases were part of the nationwide Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative.
Boatwin was sentenced to six years in prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to court documents, Shreveport Police officers found a 9mm pistol in Boatwin’s car during a traffic stop on September 29, 2025. Bailey received a three-year sentence for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, after ATF agents found approximately 635 grams of cocaine and $3,700 in cash at his Bossier City residence on February 10, 2026.
Lockett was sentenced to two years in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. On April 9, 2025, Shreveport Police executed a search warrant at Lockett’s residence, seizing cocaine, a loaded Glock pistol, and $5,290 in cash. All three defendants admitted to their crimes and pleaded guilty.
The sentences were handed down by United States District Judge S. Maurice Hicks, Jr. The cases were investigated by the Shreveport Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and other agencies as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which aims to reduce violent crime and drug trafficking in communities across the United States.
