Andrew Gross, Child Pornography Possession, Iowa 2025

Andrew Gross, 42, a resident of Sioux City, Iowa, has admitted to federal charges of possessing child pornography. Gross faced the court on September 11, 2025, for his guilt in the receipt and possession of graphic material involving minors.

The case came to light when parents reported suspicious conversations between their 15-year-old child and Gross that were of a sexual nature. Sioux City Police then discovered sexually explicit messages and photographs exchanged between the minor victim and Gross.

Gross further confessed to possessing other images and videos of child pornography. His previous conviction in Minnesota in 2021 for offenses relating to aggravated sexual abuse involving a minor casts a darker shadow over his latest admission.

Pending sentencing before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand, Gross remains in custody of the United States Marshal. The defendant could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum sentence of 20 years. A $250,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release are also at stake.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Sioux City Police Department and the South Sioux City Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant United States Attorney Kraig R. Hamit handling the prosecution.
