Six Aliens Indicted on Immigration, Firearm, and Fraud Violations
RALEIGH – A federal grand jury in Raleigh has returned indictments charging six aliens with various federal crimes, announced John Stuart Bruce, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
The indictments charge RAYMUNDO BARRIOS-JIMENEZ, age 35, of Mexico, and JAIME CARBAJAL-SANCHEZ, age 36, of Mexico, with Illegal Reentry of a Deported Alien. If convicted, they would face maximum penalties of two years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and a term of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
Omar Vasquez-Roman, age 37, of Mexico, is also charged with Illegal Reentry of a Deported Alien. However, Vasquez-Roman is alleged to have been previously deported subsequent to two felony convictions (both for illegal reentry of a deported alien). Therefore, if convicted, he faces a maximum imprisonment term of ten years.
JESUS CERVANTEZ-RUIZ, age 47, of Guatemala, is charged with Illegal Reentry of a Deported Alien. Cervantez-Ruiz is alleged to have been previously deported subsequent to an aggravated felony conviction (assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury). Therefore, if convicted, he faces a maximum imprisonment term of twenty years.
TAMER AHMED QAID SAID RABEH, age 36, of Egypt, is charged with Illegal and Unlawful Alien in Possession of a Firearm. If convicted, Rabeh faces a maximum imprisonment term of ten years.
MAXIMO ORLANDO RODRIGUEZ, age 53, of the Dominican Republic, is charged with Passport Fraud, False Representation of a Social Security Account Number, and Aggravated Identity Theft. If convicted, Rodriguez faces a mandatory term of imprisonment of two years consecutive to a ten-year term of imprisonment.
The charges and allegations contained in the indictments are merely accusations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The cases are being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, and Pender County Sheriff’s Office.
