Aljordan Cannon, a 28-year-old Jackson man, pleaded guilty to stealing $16,968.72 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in Mississippi. The crime occurred between August 12, 2023, and November 19, 2023, when Cannon unlawfully acquired and used the benefits from his girlfriend, Jarane Bines, a Customer Service Representative for Conduent. Conduent manages the distribution of SNAP benefits in partnership with state governments.
Cannon’s girlfriend, Jarane Bines, used her position to access and obtain SNAP and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits without authorization. Bines pleaded guilty to Food Stamp Fraud on January 23, 2026, and was sentenced to four years’ probation with 120 days home detention and electronic monitoring. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $39,208.53.
Cannon faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 22, 2026. The case was investigated by the United States Department of Agriculture Office of the Inspector General and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federally funded program that helps low- and middle-income families buy food and reduce hunger.
