Jose Dominguez, Meth Trafficking, West Virginia 2022

A Snowshoe man is headed to prison after a lengthy stint on the streets. Jose Dominguez, 42, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Southern District of West Virginia.

Brought to justice after a traffic stop in Beckley, Dominguez was found to be in possession of approximately 659 grams of methamphetamine. This illicit substance was discovered by law enforcement officers during a routine traffic stop on August 29, 2022.

According to court documents, the police K-9 unit alerted officers to the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. Officers then observed an open bag containing methamphetamine on the driver’s side floorboard. Dominguez admitted to possessing the substance and his intention to distribute it within the region.

Dominguez’s lengthy criminal history, including six prior convictions for drug-related offenses in California and Florida, was taken into consideration during his sentencing. This dark past has finally caught up with him as he faces the harsh realities of a federal prison sentence.

United States Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, the Beckley Police Department, and the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office for their tireless efforts in bringing Dominguez to justice.

United States District Judge Frank W. Volk imposed the sentence, citing Dominguez’s clear intent to distribute the methamphetamine and his extensive history of similar offenses. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy D. Boggess prosecuted the case, ensuring that justice was served.

The sentence handed down to Dominguez serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in illicit activities. His fate is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
