South Dakota Trio Sentenced in Meth and Pot Ring

Three men, Edward Vocu, 57, Moses Montileaux, Sr., 62, and Zeno Little, 57, were sentenced in connection with a drug conspiracy ring in South Dakota. The trio was found guilty of distributing methamphetamine and marijuana.

Edward Vocu was sentenced to 120 months in custody, 5 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.

Moses Montileaux, Sr. was sentenced to 60 months in custody, 4 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund, for Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.

Zeno Little was sentenced to 3 years’ probation, and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund, for Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.

The case began in 2008 with an investigation into a conspiracy involving 18 individuals from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The investigation revealed a large-scale distribution operation involving marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

The defendants were indicted in 2012 and subsequently found guilty. Vocu and Montileaux were immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted L. McBride and Special Assistant Laura A. Shattuck prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Justice Services, and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
