Caleeb Brown, Possession of Firearm by Felon, CT 2015

Stamford’s CALEEB BROWN, a 26-year-old former drug dealer with multiple felony convictions, was sentenced to three years in federal prison for illegal gun possession. United States Attorney Deirdre M. Daly announced the verdict after Brown pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon.

On October 8, 2015, Stamford Police discovered a .22 caliber handgun and 14 rounds of ammunition during a search of Brown’s residence. Authorities also found heroin and distribution paraphernalia, further establishing Brown’s connection to the drug trade.

Brown had previously been convicted for possessing with intent to distribute narcotics, making his possession of a firearm in interstate commerce a federal offense. The U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton imposed a 36-month sentence, followed by three years of supervised release.

CALEEB BROWN has been in federal custody since February 10, 2016. His case was investigated by the Stamford Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), with Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas P. Morabito handling the prosecution.

Brown’s conviction underscores the severe penalties associated with gun offenses in federal courts and the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and firearms violations across Connecticut.
