In a shocking turn of events, a Manitowoc man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine and carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
The case against 38-year-old Steven R. Schenian, Jr. came to a close on July 25, 2016, when he appeared in federal court in Green Bay.
Prosecutors presented evidence of Schenian Jr.’s involvement in a violent drug-related act, including the beating of a drug associate whom he suspected of theft.
Chief United States District Court Judge William C. Griesbach noted during sentencing that drug traffickers possessing firearms pose a special danger to the community.
In addition to the 12-year prison sentence, Schenian Jr. will serve 10 years on federal supervised release following his release from prison.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, and the Manitowoc Area MEG Unit.
