Raymond Lewis Shiver, a 36-year-old man from Crawfordville, Florida, was found guilty of attempting to entice a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity in Tallahassee. The crime occurred between April 10-12, 2025, when Shiver responded to a fictitious ad posted by law enforcement on a website commonly used for prostitution. He expressed interest in engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old child in exchange for money and traveled to meet the child, where he was arrested by law enforcement.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Joseph A. Ravelo and Meredith L. Steer. Shiver’s conviction is a result of the excellent investigative work by law enforcement partners and the commitment of the U.S. Attorney’s office to aggressively prosecute these horrific crimes.
Shiver faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a maximum of life imprisonment. He will also be required to register as a sex offender. The sentencing is scheduled to take place at a later date.
