Aubrey Darnell Joseph, Sr., a 35-year-old from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, has been indicted for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. The indictment, announced by United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida John P. Heekin, alleges that Joseph, Sr. was involved in a large-scale fentanyl trafficking operation. The case is set to go to trial on August 3, 2026, in Pensacola, Florida.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force. If convicted, Joseph, Sr. faces a minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment on each count.
The prosecution is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) initiative, a whole-of-government partnership aimed at eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad.
The HSTF directs the full might of United States law enforcement towards identifying, investigating, and prosecuting the full spectrum of crimes committed by these organizations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Jessica S. Etherton and Alicia H. Forbes.
