A 70-year-old registered sex offender, David Girard, was found guilty of attempting to entice a minor for sex in Pensacola, Florida. On October 17, 2025, Girard began talking to someone he believed was a 14-year-old child, discussing the sexual acts he wanted to perform and arranging a meeting location. When Girard traveled to meet the purported child, he was arrested by law enforcement. The undercover operation was conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and other law enforcement partners.
Evidence at trial confirmed that Girard had indeed talked to the person he believed was a child and traveled to meet him. Electronic evidence seized pursuant to a search warrant supported the charges against Girard. The defendant faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment, and up to life imprisonment, on the first count, and up to 30 years’ imprisonment on the second count.
