D’ontrinique K. Johnson and Tequilla D. Nairn, two Pensacola tax preparers, pleaded guilty to a slew of federal charges, including tax fraud conspiracy and filing false tax returns. The pair, who worked together at Nairn’s tax return preparation business, First Premium Solutions, scammed the government out of thousands of dollars between 2021 and 2023. Johnson, 30, and Nairn, 37, face serious prison time for their crimes.
According to court documents, Nairn and Johnson prepared fraudulent federal income tax returns for their clients, stealing government money and filing false returns. Nairn also pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft and wire fraud. The guilty pleas were announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
The case is part of a larger effort by the Department of Justice to combat fraud against the American people. The National Fraud Enforcement Division, established on April 7, is leading the charge, with Vice President J.D. Vance spearheading a whole-of-government effort to eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse.
The prosecution is a warning to would-be fraudsters in the Northern District of Florida: you will be caught and you will face the consequences. As U.S. Attorney Heekin said, ‘If you rip off the U.S. taxpayer by defrauding the federal government, you have punched a one-way ticket for yourself to federal prison.’
