A 27-year-old Tallahassee man has been accused of spreading child exploitation online. Chandler Brittain Smith allegedly distributed attempted enticement of a minor and attempted transfer of obscene material to minors.
According to the US Department of Justice, Smith appeared in federal court for his arraignment on the charges. A jury trial is scheduled for May 26, 2026.
Prosecutors are seeking a minimum of 10 years in prison for each count, with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment for the attempted enticement charge. The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Tallahassee Police Department.
The charges were brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Smith is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
